Set the Date: As early as possible, check with the church office to determine the availability of the sanctuary, the pastor, and if desired the fellowship hall. Congregation members will be given preference if we receive multiple requests for the same date.
Meet with the Pastor: The pastor will meet with both the bride and groom as early as possible to discuss pre-marriage counseling options, and to ensure compatibility of a marriage ceremony at First Lutheran with the expectations of the couple.
Meet with the First Lutheran Wedding Service Coordinator: Our wedding coordinator is the liaison between First Lutheran Church and the bridal party. She has in depth knowledge of Lutheran wedding worship services, including the order of worship, acceptable music, liturgy, altar and sanctuary décor, as well as ways of customizing the worship service to fit you. The wedding coordinator will answer any planning questions if you choose to also hire a wedding planner for the many details involved in planning your wedding day. There is an extra charge for the wedding service coordinator, and you must use our wedding service coordinator even if you have your own wedding planner. (See fee list)
General Information: First Lutheran Church is the oldest Lutheran congregation in the state of Washington, located in the heart of downtown Bothell. The current building was built in 1962 and has undergone updating over the years.
The sanctuary is traditionally inspired:
18 pews on each side of a center aisle. (36 pews total, accommodating approximately 335 worshipers.)
Side aisles on either side of the pew sections.
Traditional pipe organ in the back, above the pews, in the choir loft.
Baby grand piano at the front of the sanctuary, and an upright piano in the choir loft.
Small inner narthex directly off the sanctuary, and a large outer narthex leading from the front doors for greeting guests.
Large fellowship hall in the lower level, for receptions. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted to be served or consumed anyplace in the Church.
Rooms available for the preparation of the wedding party before the service.

* Even if you have hired a wedding planner and/or are not using our pastor, this is a mandatory service and fee.
** First Lutheran’s organist must be given the right of first refusal for all services at First Lutheran. Please speak to the wedding service coordinator for special considerations.
*** All users of the sanctuary are expected to leave it in the same condition they found it. This fee covers vacuuming and cleaning associated with the extra wedding service.
**** All users of the fellowship hall and kitchen are expected to leave them in the same condition they found it. This fee covers the extra cleaning involved with reception usage.
Payments for services are to be paid to the individuals providing the service. The church bookkeeper will provide you with a current list of names and amounts at least one month before the wedding. All payments for services and facility use are due one week prior to the wedding date.
